All education should be free

An educated populace is the road to success, and yet we shackle virtually all college-goers in the United States with immense debt, and this holds back everyone.

Think about the US college education system... it’s such a money grab for lenders and immediately puts every student in debt from the moment we enter the ‘real’ world after graduating. This is how it works: You share your family’s finances with an agency where it is then determined how much you can “afford” to pay and the nature of loans you are eligible for, which is to say, how much they can squeeze out of you each month without causing you to go bankrupt and default on your loans. It’s set at an amount that’s just enough so you can get by but are stuck for decades paying off your debt. Who are they to say we should live such meager lives? To put a family in debt in order to obtain an education is kind of astounding to me, when it should be the opposite: people should be PAID to get educated, because intelligent, educated individuals bring so much value to society.

We should being incentivizing learning and growth for people in any way we can, not making education yet another way to keep people in debt and enslaved to our broken economic system...
