Free lies from iobit

Just an example of a company clearly lying about a feature in its product in order to ensure a download. Was it a mistake? Who knows, but given the world we live in today I wouldn't be surprised if it was intended.

The screen recorder from IoBit is advertised as being free and having no watermark.

iTop Screen Recorder is free for PC (Windows), it doesn't place ugly watermarks or bombard you with annoying ads.

But as you can see from the gif above (which I made with the very recorder itself) it does have a watermark (upper right corner). The product's non-free version has no watermark. They choose to lie because it's probably what most people want in a free screen recorder and so it will get them more downloads from people thinking the free version has no watermarks... but do they really think that after lying, people will be more willing to pay money? What short-shortsightedness... Try making an awesome product first — then you will have no shortage of people who would pay for your product.

Update: The free screen recorder page seems to have that entry about having no watermark removed, so at least there's that. I still wouldn't touch this product with a 10 foot pole for a number of reasons but that's just me.
